About Doug Smock, Gene Richter, Javier Urioste
Douglas Smock is the editor-in-chief for Purchasing Magazine. Under his leadership, Purchasing Magazine has received five national awards for editorial excellence from the American Society of Business Press Editors. Purchasing Magazine is the only publication in this field to receive such recognition.
Gene Richter, retired chief procurement officer of IBM Corporation, is a 39-year procurement veteran. He led purchasing departments at Black & Decker, Hewlett-Packard and IBM that won Purchasing Magazine's Medal of Professional Excellence. Richter is one of only two recipients awarded the medal than once.
Javier Urioste is senior vice president and chief procurement officer of Global Procurement Services at JPMorgan Chase (JPMC). Prior to joining JPMC in February 2002, he was responsible for IBM's Global Procurement organization. At IBM, he was director of global procurement stategy and policy, and later, the director of global business operations.
